• Who is Kenneth H. Dahlberg, and what is his relation to the money in the scandal?
-additionally, give me your thoughts on how the internet has made life so different for those who do any type of investigative work.
Kenneth H. Dahlberg was a man who wrote a $25000 check to support the reelection of the president. It was supposed to make it to the fund, but it ended up the the account of one of the men involved in watergate. The money was donated by Dahlberg, but ended up in the wrong hands.
Now, we have the internet to help us do our research. Back then, they had to go to libraries to search for documents and search through phonebooks from all over to get a phone number. Our society now relies on the use of technology.
Dahlberg had a check made out to himself when he was traveling, because he did not want to carry $25,000 around in cash. He could not explain to Woodward how the check got into Barker's bank account, but said it was either given to the Committee to Re-elect the President, or to Maurice Stans. Dahlberg was the midwest finance chairman for the Comittee to Re-elect the President. His check was a big turning point in the Watergate scandal, because it helped uncover how the Watergate burglars were financed through a scheme of money-laundering.
Also, it was more difficult for reporters to do investigative work because there was no Google, or internet source to research information. They had to look up the names of people in various phonebooks, which was monotonous and frustrating. Dialing the telephone was hard enough, and I'm surprised that the reporters of the Washington Post were able to find Kenneth H. Dahlberg, and information on him.
good job, jade and mckenna!
Kenneth H. Dahlberg was a man who had written a check of $25,000 for himself, so that he did not have to carry around it in cash but in a travelers check. He was confused when Woodward asked him how the money had gotten into the Barker's bank account (the money used in the Watergate scandal). Dahlberg had thought (and was right in thinking so) the money had gone to the Committee to Re-elect the President or it had gone to Maurice Stans. This showed that the burglars in Watergate had been paid using the money that was for the the Presidents Re-election.
When Woodward was trying to find Dahlberg, he could not just Goolge him, they did not have computers or the internet at the time. So Woodward had to go to the library and look through phone books of different major cities. Also the only way to contact the different people were to either see them in person or call them, which in most cases they did not want to talk to you so they would hang up or leave. This made it hard for them to get the information they needed seeing as they could no research using the internet.
Dahlberg had written a check for 25,000 dollars out to the committee to reelected the president, and had given it to the chairman of finances in the committee. It somehow ended up in the bank account of the watergate suspects.
Being able to look up people on google or any type of website is a lot easier than having to look through thousands of books in an attempt to find one fact, name, ect.
Kenneth H. Dahlberg didn't want to carry around $25,000, so he made a check to himself. Somehow, this check got into the bank account of Bernard Barker. Dahlberg could not explain to Woodward how this money got there. Dahlberg did say, though, that he gave the money to the treasurer of the president's re-ellection campaign. But now we know that the money was not used for that purpose. It was used to finance the burglars who broke into the Watergate building.
Now a days, investigation work has been made easier by the internet. Woodward had to look through many phone books in order to find someone's number. Today, we can just look it up on the internet and it will only take a few seconds. Also, now we can email people or text them and get a response almost immediately. Back then, you had to make a great effort to talk to someone who lived a distance away. Also, the typewriters used to type the paper was frustrating. If you messed up, you either had to start the page over, or use whiteout. Now, we can just simply press the delete button and retype the word with the error.
To not carry a large amount of money on him, Kenneth Dahlberg made a check out to himself of $25,000. The $25,000 ended up in the account of men involved with the watergate scandal.
The internet would have been very helpful for Woodward as he was trying to contact Dahlberg. Instead of him having to sit in the library, going through many phone books. He could just Google him and get the information he was looking for right away. The internet would have saved many reporters a lot of time, and they most likely would have gotten their stories written faster.
Kenneth H. Dahlberg's name was found on a check for 25,000 dollars. He later explained that he wrote a check out to himself simply because he didn't want to carry that amount of money around with him. Somehow the check was given to another man who may have been involved in some illegal actions concerning the Watergate scandal.
The internet has been such a huge help nowadays. Google is the most common search engine in which anyone can just type in the wanted topic and find many different permanent files for just about anything. This way, no one is allowed to hide evidence of something they may have or may not have done.
Kenneth Dahlberg was involved in the scandal because he wrote a $25,000 to one of the Watergate burglars. This was how they found out about him. I think the internet makes it so much easier to do things now because you can just search for someone on google. You can also find a lot of information a lot easier.
Kenneth H. Dahlberg wrote out a check for 25,000 dollars so that he wouldn't have to carry it all around. Somehow the money he gave to the guy that worked with the president. Ended up in one of the watergate burglars bank account.
The internet has made life a lot easier because you don't have to look through a ton of phonebooks in order to find one persons number and address. You can also look up peoples background and all the things they have been involved in, in the past.
He raised 25,000 for the reelection campaign. He wrote it into a check, and gave it to the head of the finance for Nixon. Some how it was given to the person who broke into Watergate. The internet makes things easier to find out about, and makes people easier to find rather than going through hundreds of phone books.
Kenneth is a fund-raiser for the party for reelection for president Nixon and head of the mid-west area of this party. He had given a check for 25grand to the man who controls the money in the white house. This money then went to one of the Watergate burglars so that means he was paid by the white house, a major development in this story.
As far as the internet goes it is a great invention that has truly made the world a small place. You can know find information and speak to anyone anywhere. It has made life easier for those who are in the pursuit of knowledge. Reporters have benefited from this especially due to the ease of information. They can easily get info about near anything. So the Internet was a great invention that has changed the world.
Kenneth H. Dahlberg, born in 1917, was an American business man who became involved in the Watergate scandal. Dahlberg got $25,000 in cash from Duane Andreas. Somehow the money got into the hands of one of the Watergate burglars. The money was the direct link between the President and the Watergate thieves. Also, the internet has made an unbelievable difference in the media today. Back then, reporters had to either meet face to face or talk on the phone in order to get information about something. But with the internet, you can get all the information possible without leaving your seat.
