All The President's Men - Assignment
- Apr.21. 2011
Your first blogging assignment will be to blog each day that we view the movie "All The President's Men". You will need to comment on a question that I post after we watch each movie segment. Please post your thoughts on the "technology" that the reporters used during their investigation. If this were to happen today, how would their research be different? Explain.
Remember, this is an extension of our class and is subject to the same grading process. This blog is public and you need to remember to post only comments about the items discussed in my post.
I don't no if this is the actual blog response or what but here it goes. The technology that I saw was type writers, phones, pens, and paper (The last two really don't count as technology, but I'm counting it anyways). I think now a days since we have cell phones and computers and ipads/ipods. That what we record information on is more efficient and that the facts might come about a lot quicker due to the advance in technology(paper and pencil were left out because they are old school, but they are still used). There are my thoughts in the technology.
yeah same here. i guess we post our response here: In the movie they used typewriters and notepads that they wrote very messy notes on. They had to be in their office to use the phone unless they were on the street and found a pay phone. Today, we have cell phones, pagers, and other items that provide the accessibility to contact others wirelessly. Today, writers would be using portable laptops to keep and organize the notes or information they gather.
The technology at the time of the Watergate Scandal was much different than ours today. They had to use film cameras, write on typewriters, and had no cellular communications or internet. today we would have used cell phones and the internet to be able to get info on the scandal. Also with the freedom of information act we today would have access to more of the files needed to write a good story on the scandal. This would make the job a lot easier than it was then.
mckenna it is not the white house that was bugged it was watergate hotel.
Typewriters, cameras, and pay booths were used in the movie.
If this investigation were to happen during this day and age we could probably go through a lot more detail and have a lot more technology to base the investigation on.
